Alat Penilaian Bahasa Kanak-Kanak Prasekolah Melayu / Malay Preschool Language Assessment Tool (MPLAT) is a standardized tool which can be used to assess the receptive (comprehension), expressive (production) language abilities and early literacy abilities of Malay preschool children.

What is MPLAT?
About MPLAT
This language test has two versions– MPLAT Diagnostic and the MPLAT-Screening.
The MPLAT Diagnostic is used to diagnose a child with language impairment. It takes about 30-40 mins to administer. This version can be used by speech-language therapists, clinical psychologists, developmental paediatrician, researchers, etc.
The MPLAT Screening is a quick test used to screen preschool children who might be at risk of language problems. It takes about 10-15 minutes to administer. This version can be used by teachers (kindergartens, primary schools) or nurses at health clinics.
MPLAT has won a bronze medal at the Pameran Kecemerlangan Pengetahuan Warisan at UKM 2011 and chosen as one of the finalists in the Anugerah Inovasi, Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2018.
Purpose
- To assess the language and early literacy abilities of Malay kindergarten children within the ages of 4 years to 6 years and 11 months.
- To assess the language and early literacy abilities of Malay kindergarten children within the ages of 4 years to 6 years and 11 months.
- to screen kindergarten children who are at risk of language problems.
Suitable to test
- Malay children in Tadika from 4 years to 6 years and 11 years old.
- Malay children with communication disorders from 7 years to 12 years old.
- Children who use Malay as their first language or mother tongue.

FREE Language Screening of Children From B40 Families
We want to offer FREE screening to children from underserved or vulnerable B40 families – the earlier we identify the problem, the early we can provide intervention. This is important for school readiness and achieving good grades in school.

Is the cost of MPLAT training included when purchasing an MPLAT set?
No, training cost is not included in the cost of the MPLAT product. You will have to pay RM230 per head to attend the training. The training fee may be revised from time to time.
Is the MPLAT test offered in other languages besides Malay?
As for now, we only have it in the Malay language.
When is the MPLAT Training conducted?
We plan to have it 3 times in a year. The confirmed dates will be updated from time to time. To make sure you will be updated, please give us your email or contact number and we will put you in our waiting list. You can attend it whenever you are free.
What is in the MPLAT set?
When you purchase the MPLAT, you will receive a Picture Book Stimuli Flip Chart Hard Board format, a Manual Book and 20 scoring form booklets.
If I have not yet purchased the MPLAT, can I still attend the training?
Yes, you can still attend the training.
Who should attend the MPLAT Training?
Professionals who are managing children- teachers, nurses, speech-language therapists, psychologists, developmental pediatricians, researchers, and interested parents.
Where will the MPLAT training held at?
The training will be at our LangIT Centre, it is based in Kota Damansara. Upon request, we could also run the training at your workplace with at least 3 participants.
Do you sell the MPLAT set separately?
No, but we do sell extra scoring sheets separately i.e.,10 forms/set or 20 forms /set. For manual and the picture book, you will have to purchase the whole set.

Can a company or a good Samaritan use MPLAT to run a charity project (CSR) free screening project for underprivileged/B40 children at risk of language disorders?
We welcome corporate sectors/ organizations/individuals who wish to sponsor a FREE screening project for underprivileged/B40 children at risk of language disorders. We can joint venture to run the charity screening program for tadika or school children at a discounted price for the MPLAT Screening tool.
